Software company Milk Moovement has received $1.5 million in additional funding through Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC).

Milk Moovement previously accessed SDTC’s Seed Fund for early-stage entrepreneurs to support the development of its cloud-based software to improve the efficiency of the dairy supply chain through features like transport monitoring, production tracking, quality monitoring, and route optimization, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of dairy trucks.

“SDTC funding will allow Milk Moovement to continue creating a more profitable, sustainable and equitable dairy supply chain by arming our clients with actionable intelligence to make informed decisions. Milk Moovement is building a dairy supply chain where cost savings and GHG emission reductions go hand in hand,” says Rob Forsythe, co-founder and CEO of Milk Moovement.

This next round of funding will allow the company to move forward with route optimization and a milk quality matching initiative, using artificial intelligence to efficiently move milk from supplier to processor, the company says.

“Canadian entrepreneurs are driving the innovation that is moving us towards a more sustainable and prosperous future. This investment will enable Milk Moovement to rapidly accelerate and commercialize its ideas and continues the momentum of public and private commitments to advancing clean technology and reducing global emissions,” says Leah Lawrence, president and CEO of Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
