Buhler Industries is making another move to streamline production of its Farm King equipment lineup, on the heels of closing its plant in Fargo, North Dakota, in September.

After moving production from Fargo to an existing plant at Willmar, Minnesota earlier this year to increase efficiency and reduce overhead costs, Buhler now plans to cease production in Willmar in early 2021.

The company says all the of Farm King product lines currently made at Willmar will be moved to the original Buhler Industries factory in Morden, Manitoba.

“This will optimize output at that facility while capitalizing on the fluctuations in the exchange rate,” says a statement from the Winnipeg, Man.-based manufacturer, issued November 19.

The Farm King product lineup includes augers, mowers, bale carriers, snowblowers, and tillage tools. Buhler also manufactures Versatile tractors, and signed a deal last year to build high horsepower tractors for Kubota.

Buhler says Farm King dealers in Canada and the United States “will not experience delays” in deliveries as a result of the move from Willmar to Morden.

Earlier this week, Buhler announced it had closed a $15 million mortgage with CIBC, in addition to a recent renewal of a $60 million lending facility with CIBC.

Buhler reported a net loss of $13.5 million through the first nine months of its 2020 fiscal year, although the third quarter saw an improvement, with net income at $0.5 million following a net loss of $1.2 million in the same period in 2019.
