RealAg Radio, April 1: Flattening the economic curve, Alberta food security measures, and soybeans in Ontario

(Kara Oosterhuis/RealAgriculture)

Snowflakes are flying across the Prairies, and some parts of Alberta are seeing -20 degrees C. How about that for April 1st? Usually, the dust is flying around this time of the year. It may be time to cozy up with a good blanket, and listen to our latest RealAg Radio episode! On today’s show, you’ll hear:

  • Top ag news stories of the day with host Shaun Haney;
  • J.P. Gervais, of Farm Credit Canada (FCC), on the idea of “flattening the curve” when it comes to the health side of the COVID-19 situation; but what does that do to the economic curve, and how we can limit the economic downfall;
  • Devin Dreeshan, Minister of Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, on a couple of fronts — including COVID-19 food security measures the province is taking, as well as the whole new look of how research is going to be facilitated in Alberta; and,
  • Crosby Devitt, CEO of Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) on concerns of MFP-type payments in the United States on soybeans, and the impact this has on soybean acres in Ontario, as well as what is currently going on with ethanol.
