New kit makes autosteer available to every farm
AgJunction Inc. is bringing autosteer to smaller farms and older tractors that have difficultly accessing the advanced guidance precision agriculture application.
At the National Farm Machinery Show at Louisville, Kentucky, earlier this month, AgJunction launched the Wheelman Pro and Wheelman Flex — simple, affordable autosteering systems powered by the Whirl app. In this interview, AgJunction chief marketing officer Jeff Morris notes that the company has a long history with autosteer solutions for precision agriculture applications. Its technologies are critical components in over 30 of the world’s leading precision ag manufacturers and solution providers and it holds over 130 fundamental steering and machine control patents.
Jeff Morris and RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin discuss Wheelman autosteer. Story continues after the video.
Morris explains that Wheelman comes with everything a farmer needs for easy installation and operation, including an install kit, inertial measurement unit (IMU), smart antenna, and universal cable. The Wheelman Flex offers an additional benefit allowing farmers to easily move and use the autosteer system between other equipment, further reducing the overall cost of outfitting a farming operation with autosteering.
The Whirl app, the brains behind Wheelman autosteering, is a free download for iOS and Android devices. Whirl allows farmers to use their existing smart devices (phone, tablet, etc.) as the display, eliminating the need to buy a custom display.
In the interview, Morris notes that U.S. farmers can find more information about Wheelman and purchase the system at HandsFreeFarm.com. Canadian farmers will have to wait until later in 2019 to have full access to the HandsFreeFarm store. Wheelman is compatible with more than 850 tractor makes and models.
