Deere to buy carbon fibre boom supplier

Deere & Company says it has signed a deal to buy the company that makes carbon fibre booms for John Deere sprayers.

The agreement will see Deere acquire King Agro, a privately-held manufacturer of carbon fibre products with headquarters in Valencia, Spain and a production facility in Campana, Argentina.

Deere and King Agro agreed to develop and distribute carbon fibre booms for Deere equipment in 2015. John Deere debuted the lighter boom on its sprayers at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa in 2016 (see links below.)

“This transaction provides John Deere customers the chance to benefit further from King Agro’s unique knowledge, designs, and expertise in carbon fibre technology,” says John May, President, Agricultural Solutions & Chief Information Officer, at John Deere.

Deere says King Agro will retain its brand name, trademark, and commercial relationships. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
