A good place to start is the Ontario Soybean and Canola Committee (OSACC) trials, which are now available at GoSoy.ca. In this edition of Real Agriculture Soybean School, OMAFRA soybean specialist Horst Bohner looks at the treasure trove of information available on the trials website and how growers can utilize it to help make the best variety choices for their farms.
It’s important to compare yields, but Bohner stresses that it’s important for growers to review disease trial information – from soybean cyst nematode to white mould ratings – when selecting varieties. He also shows how you can compare varieties head-to-head using the website’s variety comparison feature. “There’s a lot more there than you will find on a printout of the trials. I would encourage everyone to go to the website and explore,” says Bohner.
